OBAMA RELEASES SECOND INDIANA TELEVISION AD: Presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama (D-Illinois) will begin running a 30-second ad entitled "Dignity" this week in Indiana (Howey Politics Indiana). Script: "He worked his way through college and Harvard Law. Turned down big money offers, and helped lift neighborhoods stung by job loss. Fought for workers’ rights. He passed a law to move people from welfare to work, slashed the rolls by eighty percent. Passed tax cuts for workers; health care for kids. As president, he’ll end tax breaks for companies that export jobs, reward those that create jobs in America. And never forget the dignity that comes from work."
JLT MEDIA CONFERENCE AT GAS STATION: Democratic Gubernatorial nominee Jill Long Thompson will hold a 2 p.m. news conference today to discuss "the high price of fuel, her plan to reduce its costs and Governor Daniels’s refusal to take action to help Hoosier families" (Howey Politics Indiana).
PROTESTORS WILL PICKET MCCAIN SPEECH: Two groups will be outside the hotel, protesting McCain’s visit (Indianapolis Star). The Indianapolis AFL-CIO is critical of McCain’s health-care plan. A group called We Are Change Central Indiana — an offshoot of a group started by families and friends of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks — also will demonstrate, arguing that McCain has failed to address their concerns and questions.
