21,000 Turnout for Obama

Printer-Friendly Version Printer-Friendly Version

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama waves to a crowd estimated by the American Legion to be 21,000 in downtown Indianapolis Monday night, less than 12 hours before the polls open in the critical Indiana primary. An Obama victory in the Hoosier state would press Hillary Clinton to leave the race. A Clinton win means the race for the Democratic nomination will continue on to states like West Virginia, Kentucky and Oregon. The Obama rally was one of the biggest in Indiana history. "I’m not out to win an election," Obama said. "I’m here to change the country." Music star Stevie Wonder opened the event. (HPI Photo by A. Walker Shaw)
